Student Visitor Visa

If you would like to come to the UK for a short term Course you can apply for a Student Visitors Visa.



This type of Visa is designed for people that would     like to study for less than 6 months (The period that    you intend to be in the UK must not exceed 6      months).

To be eligible for this visa you must be over the age   of  18 and have been accepted on a course of study   by an Education provider.

The Education Provider must be:

• an education provider that holds a sponsor licence under Tier 4 of the points-based system; or

• an education provider that is accredited by an accreditation body approved by the UK Border Agency; or


• an education provider that is inspected or audited by either the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted), Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education in Scotland, Estyn in Wales, Northern Ireland's Education and Training Inspectorate or the Independent Schools Inspectorate; or

• an overseas higher education institution that offers only part of its programmes in the UK, holds its own national accreditation, and offers programmes that are of an equivalent level to a UK degree.




Once you are in the UK you must be able to support yourself and pay for your own accommodation and any dependants, without help from public funds.


If you can not support yourself financially you must provide evidence that you and your dependants will be supported and accommodated by relatives or friends.



Student Visitors are not allowed to:



• take up employment, part-time or full-time (in the UK)

• engage in business, production/sale of goods or provide such services within the UK

• study at a school that is government-funded

• undertake a work placement or internship as part of your course of study

• extend your stay in the UK(Once you are in the UK with a Student Visitor Visa you cannot extend your stay from the UK, you will have to apply from your country of residence)

• receive private medical treatment;




Documents you will need as evidence for your application:

• If you are employed, a letter from your employer granting leave of absence from your job for a specified period - the letter should also say how long you have been employed by that employer, in what sectors, and what date you are expected to be back at work

• If you are self-employed, evidence of your business activities and financial status

• Evidence of any property you own in your country;

• Evidence that you have been accepted or enrolled to a course of study that will be provided by an appropriate organisation

• Evidence of any travel plans you have made

• Bank statements over a period of several months

• Evidence of savings available to you.
